The blues, one of several musical genres born in Mississippi, is more than just a style of music. It builds on the rhythm of our heartbeats and tells our story of blended cultures, struggle, and joy. This poetic talk includes an original song composed for TEDxJackson.
Vasti Jackson is a renowned guitarist, vocalist and songwriter who has delighted audiences around the world for more than 35 years. The McComb, Mississippi native has performed on recordings from B.B. King, Cassandra Wilson, Wynton Marsalis and many others. He has appeared on Dan Akroyd’s House of Blues Radio Hour and contributed to shows on the HBO, Starz Encore Network, Mississippi Public Broadcasting, PBS, VH1, the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC), and radio and television programs in Australia, Uruguay, Finland and Canada.
